Reitzel supports humanitarian projects and has made a long-term commitment to the CARDTS and Handicap International associations. This support takes the form of donations and sponsorships, in close collaboration with the Reitzel Group’s headquarters in Aigle.
CARDTS or « Citizens Alliance for Rural Development and Training Society » is a charity organization that finances and handles programs for child orphans whose parents have tragically died due to AIDS or are too weak and feeble to assume there roles as parents as a result of the illness. The association is financed through our Sustainable Development fund.
Presently, the orphanage hosts 52 children in the region of Kunigal, near our factory. Thus, we are able to regularly visit the children. Moreover, we help improving the orphanage’s infrastructure, financing the children’s education, and finally bringing comfort and relief to the general standards of living.
In 2011, the company’s donations enabled the expansion of the orphanage with the building of two new rooms. Children can now have dispose of a 60m² room designed for the children’s everyday life and a catering area of 120m².
For the following years, the company is involved in several further projects to help improving the orphanage’s housing, education, leisure activities and the children’s general livelihoods.
60 countries worldwide; eight national sections
Handicap International is an international aid association specialising in disability. A non-governmental, non-religious, non-profit association with no political affiliations, it works in all kinds of situations alongside people with disabilities, providing them with assistance and helping them achieve autonomy.
Since it was created, the organisation has set up development programmes in nearly 60 countries and intervenes in many emergency situations. The network of eight national sections (Germany, Belgium, Canada, France, Luxembourg, Switzerland, United Kingdom, USA) mobilises resources, jointly manages projects and disseminates the principles and actions of Handicap International.
“The Reitzel group has been supporting our humanitarian actions ever since our venture began in 2009.
In 2009, the company's donations has enabled us to equip 37 kindergartens (for children aged 3 to 6) by providing them with uniforms. We were also able to purchase children's games for the Jaipur orphanage.
In 2010, Reitzel has helped renovating the Manoharpur school, which hosts 350 girls.
This year, the company's sizeable contribution allowed us to purchase half the sports equipment for a school in Manoharpur (1,000 pupils) and turn a vacant lot into a sports centre, where a running track, a cricket court and a few handball and basketball courts were created.
We therefore intervene in various areas where we always have the same objective: making children smile! Long live our partnership with the Reitzel Group!”
